The Lady Gaels started off the 2001 regular season on a good note, winning their first meet over local rival South Hadley and visiting Ware. The Lady Gaels recieved great efforts from Evelyn Powell (with her first varsity win) and Marissa Lapointe, as well as Rose Casavant and Laura Jedrejewski. The foursome showed that they are ready to carry the load for this year's team, running to the front of the pack early on in the race, and remaining together in the top four spots well into the middle of the race. Vickie Cavanaugh ran a solid race in her cross country debut, and Laura MacDonald continues to improve, and looks to be ready to give the Lady Gaels some scoring depth.
