The Lady Gaels continued their winning ways and improved to 4-0 with a victory over Southwick High School. Once again, the team's top four runners stayed together early, running in a pack until well after the first mile. Krista Ricupero of Southwick broke to the front of the race immediately, and held at least a 100 yard lead by the mile, but was caught on the final straightaway by Evelyn Powell, who won her third straight race. Catholic swept the next four places, with Vickie Cavanaugh rounding out the team score by finishing sixth overall (her best finish to date). Freshman Laura MacDonald continues to improve and impress, finishing her first race at Whiting in a very respectable 22:05 (good for ninth overall). Bridget Barcom finished as the team's seventh runner, in eleventh place. Special congratulations to Katie Parsons, Lauren Urbanski, and Angela Zucco, who all finished their first race at Whiting.
